Here's a very short
description of what we're doing in computer class just now.
Please feel free to stop by and look at some of their work!
Kindergarteners
Kindergarteners have been using their headphones, and they love
them! They have learned how to draw some basic pictures on the
computer and have drawn pictures of their field trip. They will
soon be
listening to stories, music, and playing games on Sillybooks.
First Grade
The
first graders
celebrated "Patriotic Day" by
learning about symbols of America from the U.S. Government's website
guide for children, Ben. They then drew one of these symbols.
Second Grade
The
second graders have been learning about dinosaurs, and are creating
trading cards about their favorite one!
Third Grade
The third graders
picked a state to research, and have made a trading card about that
state. Later this year, they will be sending a letter to a student
from that state.
Fourth Grade
Fourth graders are learning how and when to use the spell checker.
They will soon begin learning about PowerPoint and will be creating a
presentation on a career, and how computers are used in that
career.
Fifth Grade
We
will be learning more features about PowerPoint this year, and doing a
Science project with Mrs. Mail in class.
Sixth Grade
They will be researching a famous
landmark and making a PowerPoint presentation about it.
They
are also exploring the ethical issues of using the Internet - such as
when is it okay to download music and pictures - and are working
reviewing some of their favorite educational and game websites.

Donations & Help Needed
Are
you upgrading your old PC at home or at work? Would you consider
donating your old equipment to the school? We need many flat
screen monitors, as well as several XP PC's.
Would you like to be involved in your child’s school? Helping out
during computer class is a great way to be involved. I welcome your
assistance at any grade level, but especially need help with the younger
children.
Another way you could help would be in the evenings with
computer maintenance. Call the office or send an email message to:
litch@ijschool.org if you can help out!
