sponsored programs and events.
BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION
Our 5th Annual
Box Tops for Education Class Competition is underway. Help your
child’s class win a free dress day and a “mystery surprise” during
the month of November!
Neatly cut out
the Box Tops labels found on General Mills, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker
(cereal, yogurt, pastries, snacks, etc…) Ziploc, Cottonelle, and
Kleenex products. Send these labels in as often as possible from
Tuesday, September 2ndth to Friday, October 24th.
The teachers will tally their class’s Box Top total every Friday and
submit them to the office. Check your classroom’s status on the
poster near the office to see how you’re doing!
New
this year, on each Friday of the contest the class that turns in
the most Box Tops for that week will receive a “Special Treat”
the following Monday or Tuesday!
Check out the Box Tops flyer in this
shuttle for new ways to earn Bonus Box Tops!
CAMPBELL’S LABELS FOR EDUCATION
Please clip the UPC code from
Campbell’s soups, gravies, Prego spaghetti
sauces, and Pepperidge Farm breads, cookies and crackers as
well as lids from V8 juices and Prego spaghetti sauces. We've sent
along a flyer of eligible products and examples of what you need to
collect.
Please send in
the Campbell's labels that you collected over the summer and
continue collecting UPC codes and lids. Look for the bonus labels
worth 5 points! We will have a collection contest this winter.
TYSON PROJECT A+ PROGRAM
Tyson Project A+
is a special program that helps schools earn extra money. The
Parent Group is now participating in this program and asking for
your help by saving Project A+ labels from all specially marked
Tyson products. Each label earns the school twenty four cents!
We've
included a cheat sheet in this shuttle to let you know what you need
to save. Also check out their website at
www.tyson.com/projectaplus for a list of participating products.
Thanks in advance for your
help!
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION FORMS
Just a reminder
that all volunteer information forms (green and yellow) are due in
the office this Friday, September 12th. Please
remember that you must complete Protecting God’s Children to
volunteer in the school.
WEE DELIVER
The Wee Deliver
program is our school’s postal service run entirely by our IJS
students. We have found that Wee Deliver provides the students with
opportunities to learn and apply such basic life skills as
addressing envelopes, writing a letter or card, using zip codes, and
utilizing the mail system. Postal employees develop an
understanding of how the mail is processed as well as a sense of job
responsibility. In addition, the entire school is unified through a
student centered, school-wide communication system. Our theme for
the school is Disneyland and each classroom has their own street
name. A Wee Deliver classroom directory is enclosed for your
convenience. Please save this directory for future use. We
encourage you to send letters and cards to your child(ren) and have
them do the same to their friends, teachers, staff, buddies and
siblings. Everyone likes to receive mail!
If your child is
interested in applying for a position in our school’s postal
service, they may request a job application from their teacher.
Please help you child fill out the application and return it to
school by Friday, September 19th. Those chosen for postal
positions will need to sacrifice all or part of one recess once a
week to do his or her job.
There are
several school postal jobs which students can apply:

All current IJS students and their immediate family members are
invited to join us at Roller Kingdom in Tyngsboro, MA on
Thursday, September 25th from 6 to 8pm. A
parent/guardian (18 years of age or older) must accompany their
child/children. Please do not drop them off! Adults are not
required to skate, but are always welcome to. No need to sign up,
this event sponsored by the Parent Group is free of charge! Roller
skates or blades are available to rent for a small fee. Come bring
the family for a night of fun and the rink all to ourselves!
GIFT
ROOM- CALLING ALL CRAFTERS!!
We are busy
making plans for our annual Gift Room event to be held in early
December. For those new to the IJS, this is a fun event when our
students go shopping for gift items for their family for Christmas.
To make this event a success we are calling all crafters to share
their talent with other parents willing to learn a new craft. We
will provide the supplies for fun, simple craft ideas that can be
made at a crafting night (date to be announced) or worked on at
home. Please contact our gift room coordinator Celine Fortin at
886-1966 (evenings only) or
celinem410@comcast.net (anytime) for more information.
We look forward
to working with all of you to make this another great school year.
Stay tuned for more detailed information on these and the many other
programs and events the Parent Group sponsors in our October
Newsletter.
